Steps into the WR1 role vacated by Nabers. Showed a solid rapport with Nussmeier in the bowl game last season (95 yards) - Nussmeier has a massive arm, and loves to push the ball down the field. Lacy has the size/speed profile to take on the Nabers/Thomas deep routes. USC defense was well below the national avg last season, and this game profiles as a shootout. Also factor in the uncertainty of the LSU run game with an unproven RB room and no Jayden Daniels. Would play to o74.5.

Every decent offense tickled the fancy of this porous Tiger defense, and there is little reason to believe things improve this fall. The market undervalues USC, on the other hand. While Caleb Williams is long gone, highly hyped quarterback prospect Miller Moss steps in. Moss was able to flash that potential in the Holiday Bowl, as he throttled an excellent Louisville defense with six touchdown passes and 372 yards. This explosive talent at the offense of the Trojans should be too much for the flimsy defense of LSU to handle. But more to the point, the addition of D'Anton Lynn as the new defensive coordinator at USC cements the deal. Lynn was one of college football's major success stories at UCLA, taking a lousy defense and making it into the defending Havoc leader in run stops. Now, his aggressive, multi-front nickel creates tons of chaos and is exactly what USC needs to fix up a defense that had all kinds of struggles last season. The Trojans also bolstered their defense with important transfers, including edge rusher Anthony Lucas and linebacker Mason Cobb, who starred at Oklahoma State. Safety Kamari Ramsey, who followed Lynn from UCLA, provides further depth in the secondary. These overall players, with the scheme of Lynn, should equal instant improvements on the defensive side of the ball for USC. Meanwhile, the secondary has been a concern at LSU. They are going to line up several young players, and the corners struggled all of last season, mainly Zy Alexander. In other words, poor LSU pass defense plays right into what USC would love to do. With an improved defense and a still very capable offense, the makings are certainly there for USC to keep this one close, if not win outright. The +4.5 spread provides solid value, as the Trojans are undervalued here.
